The first round of this spelling showdown was a Play-Off. The three people in each team stood behind a podium where they were told a word which they would have to spell. The rounds got progressively harder and the candidates started dropping like flies. Our team did quite well, keeping two contestants up for a reasonably long period of time. However, soon only one was left. After several more rounds William G, our last player, came out on top! Yet this was not the end, oh no, this was only the beginning.

The teams were allowed an interval in which they snacked on some popcorn. Some all-important transfers were made and the players were up at the podium again. This time it was a Quick-Fire round. The contestants had two minutes to spell as many words as they could. Our team, again, did quite well. As this tense competition came to a close, the points were totted up and the leaderboard was put up on the screen. The audience and players sat on the edge of their seats in expectation of who the victor would be. The top half of the leaderboard was revealed. Fulham Prep’s Spell Wizards had drew in second with another school and Cardinal Vaughn had made the top spot. Our super spellers were not disheartened by this in the slightest and went back to school feeling happy, just in time for sport!

We certainly did!

I remember my most memorable video game. It was my first and was for the Playstation 2. It was called Jak and Daxter, some readers may remember it. It put you in the shoes of Jak, a silent young man who adventures with his friend, Daxter. However, Daxter is not just any friend, he was turned into an ottsel by evil energy. What is an ottsel you ask: it’s a mixture between an Otter and a Weasel. This seemingly simple game was really fun and still extracts some laughs from me today even though I got it over five years ago.

Tourists were surprised to see that this symbol of American heritage had been graffiti-ed on. CCTV cameras documented a hooded figure fleeing from the scene with a can of spray paint. American historian, Rocky F. Aces, had this to say about it,

There is only one word I can use to express how I feel at the moment, DISGUST. It is terrible how our nation’s proud background has been ridiculed by this British vandal. Art, I call this GARBAGE!

An avant garde artist by the name of Q. White Nyce had this to say about it,

I would say that it is a very provocative piece that really inspires the young artists of today to aim big. I would compare to one of my works, ‘Faces of Shame’, which shows my worst enemies’ faces as they are about to be thrown in a PIT OF LAVA!!!!!!!!!! [Regains his composure]. My final descriptor would have to be Quite Nice.

It seems this piece is gathering quite a lot of controversy, what do you think?
