Summit of the Gods Review

An article written by William G.

Over the Summer Holidays, I read the first volume of a manga series by Jiro Taniguchi and Yumemakura Baku named Summit of the Gods. It is based on a novel by Yumemakura Baku in 1998. Manga are japanese graphic novels renowned for their imaginative and unique art, intriguing storylines and worldwide appeal. Some examples of manga spreading over the world are in series such as Naruto, Dragonball, Dragonball Z and Pokemon. However, Summit of the Gods is a less popular series that revolves around mountain climbing, specifically Mount Everest. The story is about a photographer who wants to discover the secrets of the mysterious disappearance of a climber on Mount Everest. The story is realistic and the art on the mountains is truly incredible. It also provides insights into other climbers’ histories. I would recommend it to the older children in the school as the story can be hard to grasp for younger children and contains one scene which could be seen as scary by younger readers. I would give it 7/10.
